in Science and Art
Transformations in Science and Art
is exciting, alive and evolving into new areas.
It started simply with an invitation
from Professor
John Hartley to the artists to visit his Cancer
Research UK funded laboratory in London.
From this visit, came the commitment
from the artists to celebrate the scientist’s
remarkable achievements. The intense vibrant world
they see in microscopic detail is reflected in the
art shown here, which is for sale.
The artists were driven to consider
the people whose lives have gone before them. Their
contribution to the mass of knowledge in Cancer Research
has led to increasingly sophisticated drug therapies
from which we benefit.
Transformations celebrates and honours
the people who have faced, and those who are facing
a future with cancer in the beautiful Whitework piece
which accompanies it.
In Constructing a New Model, the
artists look to discover creative strategies to equip
a person to manage the changes they experience in
facing cancer. They aim to develop ways to integrate
living a future with cancer, making this a “new
normal.”
In making art, making the invisible
– beliefs, emotions, experiences – visible
in their work, it is the artists aim to enable people
facing cancer, to move from isolation and anxiety
to connection, from fear and powerlessness to personal
empowerment.
Transformation – in all its
forms, offers a vision of cancer that is engaging,
powerful and positive.
Thank you for supporting the
work.
