Artistic Description
During our research into DNA
we discovered the importance of scientist Rosalind
Franklin, who made the first clear X-Ray image of
the structure of DNA. In a tribute to Rosalind Franklin’s
work, we, the artists, have placed her Photo
51 prominently in these prints.
Rosalind Franklin wrote:
"In my view, all that is necessary for faith
is the belief that by doing our best we shall succeed
in our aims: the improvement of mankind."
“A Vision of Rosalind 4” celebrates
humankind’s endeavour in scientific and medical
research. It places Franklins Photograph 51 with Crick
and Watson’s structure of DNA; it shows cluster
analysis of gene micro array data and beautifully
bejewelled and coloured representations of human cells.
These particular cells are from ‘the family
jewels’.
