Artistic Description
These first four prints feature DNA (www.dnaftb.org).
In these artworks DNA represents the centre of our
humanity. It is also the focus for the scientists
we have come to know through our residency at the
Cancer Research UK funded laboratory at UCL, London.
This is a computer generated ‘space filling
molecular model’ of DNA. Our admiration and
respect for the scientists and students who are dedicating
their lives creating new drug therapies is shown with
exuberant colour.
DNA
is screenprinted in black ink in this print and embellished
with jewels. It sits horizontally along the top area
of the picture on a band of golden yellow. We used
yellow, as it is the colour for optimism.
We are very pleased that in 2003, a copy of this
print, DNA Array 1, was presented to Professor
Francis Crick, by the headmaster of his old school,
Mill
Hill School commemorating Crick and Watson’s
role in the discovery of the structure of DNA.
