The hope that surrounds us - 50% of sales revenue to go to Ovarian Cancer Action - Buy Prints Here, Online
A series of four art prints, signed by the artists, commissioned by Ovarian Cancer Action. 50% of prints sales are donated to Ovarian Cancer Action. OCA is a leading Internation Charity whose sole focus is to eradicate ovarian cancer. They have just opened the first specialized ovarian cancer research unit at Hammersmith Hospital London (Imperial College, London). It will cover treatment development, early detection and new genetic understanding of the disease. The research unit shares information internationally under the directorship of Professor Hani Gabra.

There are many books and reference material available on ovarian cancer. I found the Johns Hopkins Press Health Book useful. Gilda Radner and Liz Tiberis are two high profile women who describe their experience of ovarian cancer and it is helpful and interesting to read them. Science & Art - Rosalind Franklin and DNA Discovery
Scientist Rosalind Franklin made the first clear X-Ray image of the structure of DNA while working at King's College in London in 1952. In the Rosalind print series we celebrate this. Her photo 'Photo 51' led to the discovery of the double helix by James Watson and Francis Crick. Photo 51 proved to be a driving force behind one of the greatest discoveries in the history of science, and has been interpreted into this contemporary art prints series by Wyllie O Hagan. She wrote: "In my view, all that is necessary for faith is the belief that by doing our best we shall succeed in our aims: the improvement of mankind." Rosalind Franklin died at the age of 37 from ovarian cancer.

Rosalind Franklin - The Dark Lady of DNA is a biography written by Brenda Maddox. This book was published the year we worked as artists in residence at a Cancer Research UK, Drug DNA Interactions laboratory in London. Here we first learned of Franklins work. Science & Art - DNA Transformations
These prints show details of Transformations in Science and Art - a major forty two metre cross-media piece. It was created during an Arts Residency with the Cancer Research UK group in the Department of Oncology at University College London. The artwork examines the growing awareness of the biological blueprint, DNA, and the vital role it plays in the development of medical research and drug therapy. It celebrates the life and work of the scientists engaged in Cancer Research, and all who are touched by this. The artists gained inspiration from imaging techniques used in the laboratory and creatively interpreted these in this series of lively and colourful prints.

Science & Art - DNA -
In 1985, at a meeting of world’s scientists, in California, it was decided to map the sequencing of the human genome. Proposals were introduced for a global Human Genome Project and 10 years later, full-scale decoding began with a target completion date of 2005. However, in the year 2000, a full five years ahead of schedule, the first draft of the human genome was completed. This series of science art prints, reflects questions posed by this discovery. A recurring theme in this Fine Art print series is the inclusion of the labyrinth – an ancient contemplative tool.
